Yana and Michael | Maroon Bells Proposal

Savannah Chandler Photography | Maroon Bells and Aspen Engagement Photographer
Michael reached out knowing that he wanted to propose to Yana on their trip out to Aspen this past fall. The Maroon Bells are such an iconic backdrop for a proposal – I’m always in awe every time I visit this amazing area.
He knew that he wanted the most privacy we could attempt to achieve during a prime fall weekend date – so we chose an evening slot and made our way up to the amphitheater where there’s always less people than on the lake shore. This is one of my favorite spots to start at, especially for a suprise proposal, as it’s easy to find (and all end up in the same location) as well as the added privacy in a place where that can be hard to find.
After Michael popped the question, and Yana emphatically said YES, we made our way around the Lollipop loop to snag some photos. They had decided on the Proposal Package, which to those looking for proposal coverage is 30 minutes of coverage and includes a few photos after the proposal. We timed everything out so that we’d end just as the sunset colors were overhead, and we had quite the stunning sky.
Maroon Bells Logistics for Proposal and Engagements
The Road to the Maroon Bells is Seasonal – it opens typically in May and closes with the snow sometime in late October to early November.
You need a parking reservation to access the area, personal vehicles are allowed BEFORE 8am or AFTER 5pm – you must take the shuttle from 8-5.
The area can get very busy, and is unusual to other locations where sunrise is one of the busiest times (that’s when the peaks have alpenglow on them).
Use of the Amphitheater area is dependent if it’s booked for a wedding that day – it can not be reserved on weekends.
There are multiple areas for hiking or walking in the area if you are looking for more of an adventure.
