I love elopements.  Everything about them.  From their spontaneous nature to their incredibly intimate vows, elopements are awesome.  And as a Colorado wedding photographer, Boulder Elopement is the best.

Jill and Terry drove out from Iowa, just the two of them. They wanted to have their Boulder elopement on Flagstaff mountain.  We headed up the mountain to Flagstaff summit, where the views can’t be beat.  It had been raining all day but we ended up with an incredible evening.

In Colorado, you don’t need witnesses to get married.  You can marry yourselves.  Which is exactly what Jill and Terry did.  It was just the three of us trumping through the mountain.  I’ve never been a part of something so intimate.  It was so emotional to watch the two of them say their vows with no one else around.  And the sun peeked through just as they were officially wed.  The gorgeous, amazing, fall sun.

Congratulations again, and thank you for inviting me to be a part of your beautiful day!

Jill’s cousin is a professional florist, who was awesome enough to provide the two of them with a beautiful bouquet and boutonnière.

Flagstaff Summit, near the nature center, provides amazing views.  It’s also a great spot to take a moment and let everything soak in.  🙂

Jill and Terry were an amazing couple to work with.  They knew they wanted to get married, but didn’t have a set time for their ceremony.  We waited until the time felt right, and they made their vows to each other.  They said their vows up at Artist Pointe, a little further up the mountain.

During the vows, I took a step back and was out of earshot.  Have no fear, this is what telephoto lenses were made for.  I was able to capture the emotion while still allowing the two of them to have a purely intimate moment.

On our way back to the nature center, we stumbled upon the sun setting through the evergreens in this magnificent field.

Thank you again, Jill and Terry, for inviting me to be a part of your Boulder elopement.
