I got an Email from Marlene and Adam asking if I was available for an elopement – in a week’s time. They’re both in the military and had one day together that would work to come to Colorado and get married. Needless to say, I had an opening for an evening elopement and we met in Crested Butte where the two of them walked through alpine valleys, ate Secret Stash pizza, and said their vows amongst the mountains.

We started our time by heading to all the places near town that had some popping wildflowers – Crested Butte is known as the wildflower capital of Colorado. And they certainly are everywhere and in abundance in late June and early July.

After our first location, we called in a to-go pizza and picked it up to have a picnic in a field next to one of the rivers that runs through the valley. I had a pillow and my backpacking camp chair in the car – which served for some great seating to eat a slice then read all the letters their loved ones had written for them. This is one of my favorite things to see couples do on elopements – ask family and friends to send them a note or Email to read together on their wedding day.

We headed up the 4×4 road for a private ceremony overlooking 12,900ft. Purple Mountain. After the said their vows and signed their marriage license on eachother’s backs, we popped some champagne and light chased until we got back into town.

Congratulations again, Marlene and Adam! I hope you had a great time here in Colorado.

Cheers –
